Sandvik Materials Technology Selects Banyard LFI Smart Power Convertor

Inductotherm Heating & Welding are pleased to announce that Sandvik Materials Technology – Sweden have completed commissioning of a new 1500kW Banyard LFI Smart Power Convertor for heating steel alloy billets prior to extrusion. The Banyard LFI Smart Power Convertor provides low frequencies across independently controlled zones utilizing IGBT technology.

Banyard specializes in non-ferrous induction heating technology providing mains and low frequency heating solutions for Aluminium, Brass, Copper, and exotic alloys for both sawn and sheared billets.

Sandvik Materials Technology offer a wide range of highly engineered products and services based on an integrated platform and extensive R&D as well as premium standard products. Sandvik Materials Technology is planned to be listed on Nasdaq Stockholm on 31^st August 2022. On day of listing SMT will be rebranded Alleima.

This new installation was to replace an obsolete converter and is the first stage in the modernization of their existing lines, with a view to incorporate new coil technologies which provide more efficient heating; a step towards a more environmentally friendly production facility.
